Government-Related Holocaust Education/Information

Ministry of Education and Higher Education – Lebanon’s national curriculum could not be located.  The Ministry reports development of a new history curriculum and a European Union-funded program in citizenship education, which emphasizes conflict resolution and community service, in order to address the country’s sectarian tensions.  Germany, UNICEF, and the United Nations Development Program are likewise funding other programs on conflict resolution and peace. 

Lebanon has a National Commission for UNESCO.

Synagogues
According to the Lebanese Jewish Community Council, there are 4 major synagogues in Lebanon, including the Maghan Avraham Synagogue, which the Council is raising funds to renovate.

News

In 2011, the United States Department of State Special Envoy to Monitor and to Combat Antisemitism met with Lebanese civil society to promote interfaith dialogue and the exclusion of Jewish stereotypes from textbooks.
