Education for Holocaust Remembrance – At its 34th session, the General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted General Resolution 61. The Resolution recalled the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 60/7 of 1 November 2005 and 61/255 of 26 January 2007. It charged the UNESCO Director-General “to consult with the United Nations Secretary-General regarding his outreach programme with a view to exploring, in consultation with Member States, what role UNESCO could play in promoting awareness of Holocaust remembrance through education and in combating all forms of Holocaust denial ….” The intergovernmental organization promotes learning materials and provides a platform for institutions, teachers, students and interested parties to access resources on Education for Holocaust Remembrance.
