National Independent Human Rights Commission – In 2011, Burundi established the National Independent Human Rights Commission and took steps toward establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

January 23, 2012, UNESCO organized a video conference in which French Historian Georges Bensoussan addressed the challenges associated with teaching the Holocaust.  Representatives from Burundi participated in the discussion.
