Ministry of Education – Nicaragua neither mandates the teaching of the Holocaust nor includes the topic in the state curriculum. The eighth grade history curriculum does include World War II and its effects.

There is a Jewish cemetery and synagogue in Managua.  The Jewish community in Nicaragua is slowly reestablishing itself after years of exile.

In February 2007, President Daniel Ortega affirmed Nicaragua’s support for the United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning Holocaust denial. Foreign Minister Samuel Santos reiterated this condemnation, stating, “the international community has a deep responsibility to assure future generations the lessons of the Holocaust never be forgotten so that it never can be repeated again.”
