Edward Morse

Edward Morse (Chair) is executive advisor at Hess Energy Trading Co., LLC, a proprietary-trading firm, with offices in London, United Kingdom; Singapore; Boston, Massachusetts; and New York. He also chairs the Task Force of the James A. Baker III Institute at Rice University in Houston, Texas, on United States Energy Security. He is the former president of Petroleum and Energy Intelligence Weekly, Inc., publishers of Petroleum Intelligence Weekly. A frequent commentator on oil market trends, Dr. Morse is the author or co-author of four books and numerous scholarly articles on politics, finance, energy, and international affairs. He has served as director of international affairs at Phillips Petroleum Company and was a co-founder of the Petroleum Finance Company. During the Carter and Reagan Administrations, Dr. Morse served in a number of administrative positions including deputy assistant secretary of state for international energy policy. During his tenure as deputy assistant secretary, he served as the United States representative at the International Energy Association. Dr. Morse received his Ph.D. degree from Princeton University. He is a former member of the Salzburg Seminar Board of Directors, and served as chair at Salzburg Seminar Session 296, Energy in the 1990s, 1992.
