Pablo Martinez Zarate

Pablo Martinez Zarate is an artist and head professor of documentary film and photography in the Communications Department at Iberoamericana University, where he coordinates the photography and the digital convergence labs. Pablo's work bridges memory, territory and identity through film, photography, multimedia and writing. His work has been shown at Laboratorio Arte Alameda, the Interactive Museum of Economics, Spain's Cultural Center in Mexico and Mexico's National Museum of Art. His films have been showcased in over 10 countries and received prizes in festivals in India, U.S. and Brazil. Amongst his films are Ciudad Merced (2013), La PelĂ­cula (2014), So Much Light (2015) and Life on the line (2017). His multimedia work includes pieces such as the web-documentary Santos Diableros , the interactive poem and installation Poema Panorama , the interactive doc Momento MX , as well as other media art pieces and exhibits. Since 2014 he is partner of longtime filmmaker Gregorio Rocha in the film preservation and lab-museum Anarchivia . He has published novel, poetry and essay, and writes for magazines and websites in Mexico and abroad. In 2016, as professor at Ibero University, he founded the Laboratorio Iberoamericano de Documental (Iberoamerican Documentary Lab), which he heads since.
