Albert M. Ward

Program Manager, Strong Families/Safe Children

Albert M. Ward is a poet. His work has appeared in publications at the University of Detroit, Wayne State University, and Boston College University. Mr. Ward has also written verses for Brom Designs, Inc., a family owned African-American greeting card company in Detroit, and Blue Mountain Arts greeting cards. His work has been featured with the Experimental Dance Movement, and at the Museum of African-American History, in Detroit. Mr. Ward is founder of the Your Heritage House Writers Group, the Oak Park Writers Circle, and is poet-in-residence at the Oak Park Library in Michigan. He is currently the director of the Dexter/Elmhurst Family and Community Services Center in Detroit, a center which assists families and neighborhoods in strengthening their ability to be self-sufficient and nurture children. He has served on the executive staffs of two Michigan governors, and sits on the boards of the Detroit Science Center and the Robert L. Millender Fund. As a volunteer, Mr. Ward has served as an advocate for youth, education and quality human services. He also founded and chaired the Michigan Science and Technology Quest program of the Michigan Technology Council. Mr. Ward is a graduate of the University of Detroit, Mercy.
