A. Michael Hoffman is chairman and co-founder of Palamon Capital Partners, LLP. He is an American/Austrian national fluent in German and Dutch with extensive experience in private equity, built up over the past twenty-five years. Prior to co-founding Palamon, Mr. Hoffman was a partner with Warburg Pincus, LLP for eleven years, having established the company's first international office in London in 1987. Before joining Warburg Pincus, Mr. Hoffman had a 15-year career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co, Arthur D. Little, and latterly as a partner with Booz, Allen & Hamilton. Mr. Hoffman received a B.A. cum laude from the University of Texas, an M.A. in international affairs from Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. He served for ten years as chairman of the Advisory Board of the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and was the recipient of the 2007 Columbia University Distinguished Service Award. He currently serves as a member of the Columbia University International Council, and as a trustee of the Columbia University Alumni Association. Mr. Hoffman is also a member of the board of the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University and was recently elected a trustee of the University. He also serves on the Chancellor's Council of the University of Texas System. Mr. Hoffman has been a director of the United States-Spain Council and the British-North American Committee, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in London. He recently became chairman and president of The American Academy in Berlin. Additionally, he was a founding director of The Shakespeare Globe Theatre and served on its board for ten years, was a board member of The Royal Court Theatre for eight years, a director of The Royal Shakespeare Company and a governor for six years, and was a trustee and chairman of the Development Board of The Almeida Theatre for nine years.
