Carlos Eduardo YOUNG, Brazil, is an associate professor at the Institute of Economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and serves as a research consultant for many research projects in the fields of economic development and environmental economics. He is head of the research group on Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development at UFRJ; the research project Economic Aspects of Deforestation in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica); and the research project The Economics of Global Warming: Perspectives and Opportunities for Brazil. Dr. Young holds a Ph.D. in economics from University College London, UK, and an M.S. in economics from the Institute of Economics, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
