C. Judson King

Judson King is the director of the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he is also emeritus professor of chemical engineering and emeritus University of California system-wide provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. He presently also serves as interim director of the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at Berkeley. Dr. King joined the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. He became dean of the College of Chemistry in 1981 and later also served the Berkeley campus as provost of professional schools and colleges. His research interests include separation processes for solutions and homogeneous mixtures as well as research topics related to higher education, including technological innovation, scholarly communication, engineering education, and sustainability and mission of public universities. He was chair of the California Council for Science and Technology. Dr. King holds a Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge and is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering. He was a faculty member at Session 441, From Lab to Market: Accelerating Innovation through University, Business, and Government Partnership, in 2007.
