Byung-Kook Kim is a professor in the Department of Political Science at Korea University, where he teaches comparative political theory, party politics, and methodology. He was the Ralph I. Straus Visiting Professor at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of East Asian Studies and the International Political Science Review. In 2008, he was national security advisor to President Lee Myung-bak. From 1994 to 1998, he was member of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. He is founder and president emeritus of the East Asia Institute in Seoul. Dr. Kim He earned a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University, USA.
