Bruce Lewenstein

Bruce V. Lewenstein is associate professor in the Departments of Communication and Science and Technology Studies at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. He is co-author of The Establishment of American Science: 150 Years of the AAAS (Rutgers Univ. Press, 1999), and editor of the journal Public Understanding of Science. His articles on science popularization and the history of science communication have appeared in numerous journals and magazines worldwide. He has directed the creation of an archive of material on the cold fusion saga, and one on media coverage of the use of DNA evidence in the O.J. Simpson trial. He is a past member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Committee on Public Understanding of Science & Technology, and serves on the advisory board of the Sciencenter, an interactive science museum in Ithaca, New York. He has lectured on science communication in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He received his Ph.D. in history and sociology of science at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
