Brian Newman is executive director and president of Renew Media, which supports the creation, dissemination, and public awareness of independent media in all forms. Renew Media funds creativity through the Media Arts Fellowships, and creates programs that help artists, archives, and distributors to digitize and disseminate their work to the public. Mr. Newman is the former executive director of IMAGE Film & Video Center in Atlanta, overseeing the Atlanta Film Festival among other programs. He also held positions at the Independent Feature Project and the South Carolina Arts Commission. He serves on the editorial advisory board for Art Papers Magazine and on the board of Grantmakers in Film & Electronic Media. Mr. Newman received a B.A. in interdisciplinary film studies from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and an M.A. in film studies from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.
