Pinar Dost-Niyego

Independent Historian, Member of Istanbul Bilgi University Jewish Communities Studies Unit (YATOÇ),Turkey

Pinar Dost-Niyego is the associate director of the Atlantic Council Turkey Office and the Atlantic Council Istanbul Summit. She is a historian and coordinator for the World Civilizations course at Istanbul Bilgi University and a member of the Jewish Communities of Turkey working unit at the same university. She previously taught on the history of the Second World War at Istanbul Galatasaray University and on the history of political thought at Marmara University. She was a volunteer educator with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Anne Frank House, organizing teacher training seminars in different cities in Turkey, Washington and Amsterdam. Recently she was the Turkey coordinator for the Conference on International Holocaust Education organized by the USHMM and UNESCO, and together with her colleagues she organized public events and student seminars, and developed course material on the Holocaust and other genocides. Her research interests are focused on Holocaust education and anti-Semitism in Turkey, and she has attended several international workshops, training seminars and conferences. As a result, she has published several articles on these subjects, including authoring Le bon dictateur. L'image de Mustafa Kemal Atatürk en France (1919-1938). She earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from Galatasaray University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in History at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. Pinar is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
