Duncan Stephenson

Deputy CEO, Royal Society for Public Health, UK

As deputy CEO, Duncan Stepheson supports the Chief Executive in setting the overall strategic direction for the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) as well as providing operational support and deputizing when required. Duncan also leads the External Affairs and Marketing Department which includes developing the organization's voice on public health issues. He has almost twenty years' experience in campaigns, media relations and public affairs working mainly on health and wellbeing issues and is particularly interested in disruptive ideas to challenge health inequalities. He has been behind many of RSPH's high profile policies and campaigns on a wide range of issues including tackling obesity, raising awareness of the impact of social media on mental health, encouraging vaccination uptake and advocating drugs policy reform. Duncan has previously worked in the commercial, voluntary and public sector. He received an M.A in philosophy, politics and economics from Wadham College, Oxford University.
