Jim Pedrech

Ambassador, Project Kakuma, Canada

Jim Pedrech is a teacher from Strathroy, Canada and an ambassador for Project Kakuma. He is interested in how technology can inspire creativity, mitigate social and economic barriers, and foster meaningful experiences for learners. As an ambassador for Project Kakuma, he has worked with teachers from around the world to create lesson plans that they implement during Skype calls with students in refugee camps. He has also co-authored lessons for Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots program and Innovation Lab Schools. He and his students are also investigating how 3D technology can be used to create empathy and understanding between cultures; for example, he helps students from Indigenous communities tell their stories via 360 video and interactive 3D experiences. Jim has an Honors history degree and a Bachelor's of Education from the University of Western Ontario.
