Nor'Aishah Abu Bakar is a public health physician and serves as the head of the patient safety program in the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Among her main contributions as a patient safety leader and champion in Malaysia are the establishments of a Patient Safety Unit at the Ministry of Health and of a Safe Surgery Saves Lives Program in 2009. She is also the chairperson of Technical Working Group on Incident Reporting and Learning System. She has produced guidelines for the ministry on Incident Reporting and Learning System 2.0. and on Safe Surgery Saves Lives, 2nd edition. Involved in the production of more than 30 national guidelines in total, Nor'Aishah is also part of the expert group of WHO's Global Patient Safety Network and has been a presenter at several international conferences. Her contributions to improving patient safety has been acknowledged by WHO-ISQua and she has been awarded with the Safety First Award. She now helps developing national quality in healthcare policy for Malaysia.
