Sophie von Dobschuetz works as a veterinary epidemiologist for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Italy since 2004. She supports national veterinary services in early warning through the process of early detection, and controlling infectious animal diseases. Sophie is currently working on coordinating the surveillance and data analysis of zoonotic diseases in Asia, Middle East, and Africa for FAO's, component of the USAID-funded Emerging Pandemic Threats 2 (EPT-2) programme. She also works alongside the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) to build national capacities for qualitative risk assessment at the animal-human interface. Sophie earned her Ph.D. in International Animal Health at the Free University in Berlin, and a M.Sc. in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health at the Royal Veterinary College in London
