Barbara Han is a disease ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York. Her research program at the Cary Institute focuses on predictive analytics of zoonotic diseases using machine learning, deep learning, and ecoinformatics approaches. Her program is supported by two active National Science Foundation (NSF) awards through the Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases program, and a third multi-national project funded by the DARPA PREEMPT program. She completed two postdoctoral fellowships in biological informatics (NSF) and machine learning (NIH) at the University of Georgia. Barbara completed her Ph.D. at Oregon State University during which time she also completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Venezuela.
