Shwetha Surendran is a Young India Fellow at Ashoka University, India. As a commerce graduate fresh out of college, Shwetha knew she wanted something more out of life. Drawn to the liberal arts in the Young India Fellowship program, she has immersed herself in reading, critically analyzing and familiarizing her slef with issues, both nationally and globally, through a post-graduate diploma. An aspiring journalist, Shwetha is interested in new, green radical ideas in economics, policy research and digging into topics no one is talking about. Having interned at one of India's leading newspapers, The Hindu, for a month during her undergraduate years, she is confident of the contribution she can make to the field. This peculiar combination of a commerce degree with an editorial internship not only makes her certain of her unique interests, but also highlights her pursuit of a holistic perspective.
