Jenny Wood

Jenny Wood is a research associate at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, who joined the Institute of Social Policy, Housing and Equalities Research in 2017. She has undertaken research on homelessness policy, severe and multiple disadvantages, interventions to assist people facing homelessness, inclusive urban planning, and children's human rights. Jenny has delivered a range of community engagement sessions with children; training to policy-makers and practitioners; and presented an international keynote presentation. Committed to public engagement in research, Jenny has also performed both spoken word and stand up comedy at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on planning and children's rights. In August 2018, Jenny co-founded a new Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation 'A Place in Childhood' (APiC) to further promote children's rights in the built environment. She has a keen interest in the Child Friendly City Movement and has advised on research into what makes a child friendly environment in South Korea.
