Timothy Blatch

Timothy Blatch is a professional officer of urban development in ICLEI: Local Governments for Sustainability's Cities Biodiversity Center and the global program coordinator for CitiesWithNature, an initiative that seeks to provide a shared platform for cities, researchers, practitioners, and communities to connect, share, learn, act, and inspire each other and where cities can embark on a journey towards mainstreaming nature in all urban processes. An urban planner by qualification, he is passionate about the human-nature nexus in cities, especially in the African context. His projects span a variety of topics and themes relating to biodiversity mainstreaming, environmental policy, nature-based solutions, and the advocacy thereof. Timothy has previous experience in both the public and private sectors on projects relating to urban and spatial planning, environmental conservation, strategic partnering and framework development, sustainable development, and urban-resilience program coordination. He received a bachelor's degree in social sciences and a master's degree in city and regional planning from the University of Cape Town.
