Mariam Kamoga Namata is the executive director of CHAIN Uganda, which promotes the empowerment of people living with and affected by HIV, TB, Malaria and non-communicable diseases; supports orphans and vulnerable children and promotes health literacy, patient-centered healthcare, and patient safety. She has served on numerous boards, including The Ugandan Academy of Health Innovation and Impact and is a past board member of the International Alliance of Patients Organizations and a founding member and chairperson of the Uganda Alliance of Patients Organisations. She is a patient safety champion under the WHO Patient for Patient Safety program, member of the WHO Patient Safety Advisory Group and member of the Technical Working Group on Supervision, Monitoring Research and Evaluation and National Quality Improvement. She is one of the authors of the patient safety chapter in the WHO-TDR Report on Implementation Research for the Control of Diseases of Poverty. Mariam has made presentations at the WHA-IGWG, the EU- Africa Pharma Business to Business; the Social Forum 2015, and the 2nd Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety in Bonn, 2017. She holds a Master of Public Administration and Management, a Bachelor of Education from Makerere University and a postgraduate diploma in project planning and management from the Uganda Management Institute.
