Gene Ludwig is the founder and CEO of Promontory Financial Group, an IBM Company and a trusted adviser to many of the world's leading financial companies. As a former banker and regulator, he is widely recognized as a farsighted thinker on the most pressing issues confronting financial services. Under his leadership, Promontory has become synonymous with excellence in compliance and risk management, and is renowned for its ability to help financial companies with their most pressing challenges. Now as a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM, Promontory is at the forefront of applying regulatory expertise and cutting-edge technology, including cognitive solutions, to resolve complex problems facing the financial services industry. As U.S. comptroller of the currency from 1993-1998, Gene served as the Clinton administration's point person on the successful policy response to the credit crunch of the early 1990s. As comptroller, he was known as a pragmatist who greatly enhanced the ability of financial institutions to compete even as he refocused the industry on meeting its obligations under the Community Reinvestment Act. Gene graduated magna cum laude from Haverford College and received a scholarship to Oxford University, where he earned an M.A. as a Keasbey fellow. He holds a J.D. from Yale University.
