Aleksi Neuvonen

Co-founder, Demos Helsinki, Finland

Aleksi Neuvonen is the co-founder of the Nordic think tank Demos Helsinki. He is a futures researcher and an expert on urban development and societal transformation, with a twenty-year career in multi-disciplinary social research. Currently, Aleksi is in charge of Demos Helsinki's research activities. He holds an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Helsinki and is currently preparing his Ph.D. in planning theory at Tampere University of Technology and Radboud University Nijmegen. He has taught futures studies and scenario method at several European universities. Aleksi is a long-standing board member of the Crisis Management Initiative of Nobel laureate and former president of Finland Martti Ahtisaari and in Ruohonjuuri/Happy Food Store, the ecological retail chain. He has lead-authored a number of publications on futures, including From Pause to Play, Rewiring Progress, The Next Era of Wellbeing, Nordic Cities Beyond Digital Disruption and Scenarios for Sustainable Lifestyles 2050. Aleksi is also the founder of Next Era Global, an initiative by Demos Helsinki and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, to create a societal vision on fair and sustainable societies beyond the current post-industrial transformation.
