Freda Nkirote M'Mbogori

Director, British Institute in East Africa, President Pan-African Archeological Association, Nairobi, Kenya

Freda Nkirote M'Mbogori is the country director of the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA), Nairobi, which she first joint in 2015 as assistant director. She also acts as the president of the Pan-African Archaeological Association (Panaf). Formerly, she was head of the Cultural Heritage Department at the National Museums of Kenya. Freda has published books with Cambridge and Oxford University Press and book chapters and professional papers in peer reviewed journals. During her career she has been involved in setting up exhibitions and in the organization of several workshops/conferences in archaeology and cultural heritage matters. Freda holds a bachelor degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya as well as a master's degree from the University of Berge, Norway and a postgraduate diploma in museum studies and conservation from University College London, UK. She received her Ph.D. in archaeology from Paris-Nanterre University, France.
