Erin Thompson

Erin Thompson is an associate professor of art crime at John Jay College at the City University of New York. She studies the damage done to humanity's shared heritage through looting, theft, and deliberate destruction of art. Her work includes the analysis of the damages that were done throughout the current conflict in Syria. Erin also has a profound interest in the legalities and ethics of digital reproductions of cultural heritage. Moreover, she curated an exhibition of the artwork produced by detainees at Guantánamo Bay which was displayed in New York from 2017-2018. Erin obtained her Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University, USA, along with a certificate in global business law from Sciences Po, France and Sorbonne University, France.
