Yasser Thabet is broadcast editor for Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel in Doha, Qatar. He supervises the reading, translating, and editing of stories received from news agencies and correspondents. Dr. Thabet is also responsible for selecting which stories and events to broadcast according to Al-Jazeera's news values and policies. He regularly writes news analyses about current events on the international stage while explaining and predicting their potential impact on the Middle East and the world. Dr. Thabet is the former head of the foreign affairs section of Al-Ahram Al-Massa'i newspaper in Cairo, Egypt. He is a member of the Egyptian Press Syndicate, and the International Organization of Journalists. He received an M.A. in journalism from the Centre of Journalism Studies at the University of Wales in Cardiff, England, and a Ph.D. in journalism from Barrington University in Alabama, USA. Dr. Thabet is an alumnus of several Salzburg Seminar Sessions and most recently served on the Faculty of Salzburg Seminar Session 416, Ethics in News Reporting and Editing, 2003
