Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, United Kingdom
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown is a regular columnist for The Independent, works as a radio and television broadcaster, and is the author of several books on race and immigration including No Place Like Home, True Colors, Who Do We Think We Are?, and After Multiculturalism. She has written for a variety of periodicals including The Guardian, Observer, The New York Times, Newsweek, The Evening Standard, and The Mail. From 1996 to 2001, Dr. Alibhai-Brown was a research fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research in London, United Kingdom and is currently a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Centre in London. She advises various key institutions on race matters, and is a regular public speaker in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. Dr. Alibhai-Brown is vice president of the United Nations Association, United Kingdom; president of the Institute of Family Therapy; and special ambassador for the Samaritans. She completed her M.Phil. in literature at Oxford University, and served on the faculty of Salzburg Seminar Session 372, Race and Ethnicity: Social Change through Public Awareness, 1999.
