Claudia Brovetto is the cluster lead in Uruguay of New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL), an international movement for systems change in public education. Her current areas of interest are language teaching, new pedagogies, cross curricular competences and the use of technology to enhance learning. She has been a member of the board for Linguistic Policy and Planning in Uruguay where she contributed to the design of a comprehensive plan for the teaching of foreign languages in Uruguay. She conducted the implementation of a national program for the teaching of English through videoconference at a large scale. Claudia taught linguistics at the University in Uruguay and teacher training programs. She currently works at Plan Ceibal - Uruguay, conducting the implementation of NPDL in 420 schools. She also coordinates a series of projects for the teaching of English through videoconference in public schools. She graduated as a linguist from Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to do graduate studies, and in 2002 she obtained a Ph.D. in linguistics from Georgetown University, Washington D.C.
