Rena Deitz

Rena Deitz is an education technical advisor at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She has developed the IRC's social-emotional learning programs for children affected by conflict and crisis in East and West Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America. Prior to joining the IRC, Rena worked across international and domestic education and child protection, at UNESCO, the Child Protection in Crisis Network, Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies and Up2Us. Rena's area of interest and expertise is in providing equitable, quality education to children and youth affected by crisis, focusing particularly on building the foundational social-emotional skills necessary to succeed in school and life. She has a Masters in international and comparative education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and is a Ph.D. student at New York University in international education.
