Bernd BAUMGARTL is executive of Navreme Knowledge Development, a European policy and strategic planning consultant network, with nodes in Vienna, Prague, Skopje, and Ankara. Having served as researcher at the European University Institute in Florence, visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and as an official of the European Union, he is now a consultant and evaluator for several projects of the European Union, United Nations, Council of Europe and other international organizations. He is an advisor to several Austrian Federal Ministries and an external professor at the European Peace University in Schlaining, the International Labor Organization Training Centre in Turin, and Donau University in Krems. He is a former advisor to the Council of Europe, and a current independent evaluator for the Directorate General for Research and the Directorate General for Education and Culture at the European Commission. Dr. Baumgartl holds a Ph.D. in social and political science from the European University Institute in Florence. He has participated as a resource person in several of the Salzburg Seminar's University Project symposia, as faculty in several International Study Program sessions, and as a fellow at several Salzburg Seminar sessions.
