Mark Herbert is director of schools and skills programs at the British Council. He has a particular interest in how education systems can be improved through international collaboration and, in the UK, how young people's skills, knowledge and experience can be enhanced by embedding an international dimension into school life, including through language learning. Prior to this role he worked mainly in communications, marketing and strategy. From 2006 he was director of communications for the British Council for eight years and head of communications for part of the National Health Service in London. He has two children at secondary school and one at primary. Mark holds a B.Sc. in management studies from Cardiff University and over the years has worked in Uganda, Chile and Peru.
