Catherine Edwards

Emerson College, USA/Canadian Association of Community Television Users and Stations (CACTUS)

Catherine Edwards is the founder and executive director of the Canadian Association of Community Television Users and Stations (CACTUS). She is currently completing her master's degree in Civic Media Art & Practice at Emerson College, which included working as a research assistant with the "Make the Breastpump Not Suck" project at MIT. Catherine's master's thesis is to develop a transitional toolkit to help community TV and media organizations leverage interactive digital technologies for community engagement, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and digital games. She previously managed an SSHRC-funded research project in partnership with the Carleton University School of Journalism and Communications to develop policy proposals to support a converged and multimedia vision for community media in the digital environment. She holds an Honors B.A. in English Literature from the University of Waterloo.
