Deborah Oliveros

Deborah Oliveros is an M.A. candidate ('19) in Communication, Culture & Technology at Georgetown University. Her focus is on issues of media representation of women and other minorities. Specifically, the lack of representation void of stereotypes in popular culture media and its political impact. Prior to CCT, Deborah got her B.A. in Mass Communications in her home country, Venezuela, where she also attended film school. During that time, she assisted in the production of ads for presidential campaigns and Amnesty International's initiative "Basta de Balas", which aimed to end street violence. She was also an editorial intern at one of the largest opposition-oriented newspapers in Venezuela, El Nacional. Currently, she is interning in the Latin American Division at Voice of America in Washington DC. She speaks fluent Spanish and English, with basic understanding of French and Italian, after attending bilingual schools during her early childhood and teenage years.
