Senior Programme Manager of ICLEI's Cities Biodiversity Centre (CBC) and Senior Manager for Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions at ICLEI-Africa, South Africa

Ingrid Coetzee is senior programme manager of ICLEI's Cities Biodiversity Centre (CBC) and senior manager for biodiversity and nature-based solutions at ICLEI-Africa. Her work focuses on mainstreaming nature, its benefits, and nature-based solutions into urban planning, decision-making and project implementation in cities and city-regions. This includes overseeing various complex, multi-year projects in Africa and serving as global technical lead on the IKI INTERACT BIO project, a biodiversity mainstreaming project implemented in Brazil, India & Tanzania. She is the technical lead on ICLEI's biodiversity advocacy work and has extensive government experience having served in senior technical and top management positions responsible for biodiversity conservation, environmental management and agriculture in all levels of government in South Africa. She also worked as expert consultant to the government in these fields. Her expertise includes environmental governance, environmental management, sustainable development, stakeholder engagement processes, facilitation, strategy development, policy and law reform, protected areas, heritage sites, biodiversity mainstreaming and conservation. She holds a master's degree from the University of Johannesburg.
