Fiona Pape

Regional Head of English for Education Systems - MENA, The British Council, Egypt

Fiona Pape is a senior education advisor with over 20 years' experience in international culture and education sectors. Fiona is currently based in Cairo and leads the British Council's English for Education Systems portfolio of programs across MENA, working with a range of ministries of education, international donors and partners on quality education reform interventions to support greater academic and career opportunities, social empowerment and enabling young people to actively participate in a global society. She has extensive experience in large scale programs relating to ELT, EMI and language for resilience in sub-Saharan Africa and MENA. As part of the British Council's response to the ongoing crisis in Syria, Fiona currently leads on a number of language for resilience programs and research initiatives which support refugees with access to education and improved livelihoods. She has a keen interest in gender issues and MEL. Fiona obtained her M.A. in European literature and gender studies from Dalhousie University, Canada and holds post-graduate diplomas in strategic marketing (CIM), education management and ELT.
