Svenja Kornher works at the Center for Multilingualism at the University of Konstanz, the first German branch of Bilingualism Matters. Together with Tanja Rinker (Eberhard - Karls - Universität Tübingen) and Janet Grijzenhout (Universiteit Leiden) she is currently leading a five-year project on multilingualism in schools funded by the ministry of science, research and art, Baden-Württemberg. This project aims to foster multilingual competences in teacher trainees and investigate how class communication can be improved with regard to multilingual students. She has a background in diversity management in higher education and organizational development with a special focus on migration/multilingualism and LGBTQ topics. She is also an experienced diversity trainer and gained longtime working experience at a women's counselling center. She earned her Ph.D. in history from the University of Hamburg.
