Obioma Uche

Visiting Assistant Professor, Rochester Institute of Technology, Nigeria

Obioma is currently a visiting assistant professor of chemical engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Having worked in both Nigeria and the U.S.A., Obioma is interested in techniques for the optimal delivery of STEM content to students and how application of those concepts can be used to solve local/regional issues. Her research interests involve applying state-of-the-art computational techniques to understand the fundamental structural elements and interactions that govern the macro-scale behavior of systems. She is a past fellow of the U.S. Department of Energy CSGF program, and the MIT-ETT fellowship program. Prior to entering academia, she practiced as a chemical engineer for several years and is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) as well as the American Chemical Society (ACS). She earned her B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and Princeton University respectively. Obioma is a Fellow of the Holocaust Education and Genocide Prevention program at Salzburg Global Seminar. She coordinated the launch of the Change Makers Leadership Program, a workshop which aims to promote pluralism and prevent extremism among youth, in Nigeria.
