Martin Riedl

Visiting Fellow, Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Germany

Martin Riedl is a doctoral student and teaching assistant at the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Visiting Fellow at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in Berlin, Germany, where he conducts research about content moderation of social media content, as well as the German Network Enforcement Act. He holds a Master's degree in media management from Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, and a Master's in social sciences from Humboldt University of Berlin. His research encompasses questions of internet governance such as how private (social media) platforms govern speech, the labor aspects of content moderation, as well as media sociology, digital journalism, and critical social media studies.
