Tom Reis (co-chair) is the venture philanthropy director at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan, a newly-created position that will explore opportunities for Kellogg to define partnerships with successful entrepreneurs interested in philanthropy. He has had extensive experience in the corporate, non-governmental and public sectors. His corporate experience includes working as a marketing and brand manager for the Pillsbury Company (1975-1981); and as vice president, marketing and sales, for the Ringer Corporation (1981-1983). Before joining the Foundation, he spent almost five years in Indonesia as a senior program officer with the Academy for Educational Development. He provided health communications/social marketing technical assistance to several national primary health care programs managed by Indonesian government and non-governmental organizations. Mr. Reis has consulted in more than fifteen countries worldwide, and has lived in Latin America, Africa and Asia. He is very interested in finding ways to incorporate private (commercial) sector perspectives, tools and resources into non-governmental organizations, in addition to exploring new roles, relationships, and models for "doing business" in the social sector. He earned an M.P.A. from Harvard University, Massachusetts.
