Wilson John Barbon

Wilson John Barbon is Myanmar country program coordinator at the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction. He started working on the Myanmar program in 2014. As country lead, Wilson has expanded IIRR's partnership base in Myanmar as well as led project development and fundraising for projects on climate change adaptation and livelihoods in the country. Since joining IIRR in 2012, Wilson has been the lead specialist for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation (DRR/CCA). As such he designs and supervises programs and projects on community-managed disaster risk reduction and resilient livelihoods for various country programs of IIRR in Asia. Wilson has 20 years of solid experience in social development work in the Philippines in the field of community organizing and research, natural resources management in both upland and coastal ecosystems. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines and a master's degree in environment and natural resources management with special focus on upland ecosystems from the University of the Philippines-Open University. He is a Fellow of Session 591, The Asia We Want: A Clean and Green Asia, in 2017.
