Thawan Duchanee is an artist, architect, and philosopher. Born in Thailand, Mr. Duchanee was educated in both eastern and western universities, where he studied art and culture. His exhibitions have been shown in modern art museums around the world. Mr. Duchanee attended Poh Chang Arts and Crafts College and Silpakorn University in Bangkok. He received a postgraduate fellowship from the Dutch Ministry of Education to study at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Mr. Duchanee returned to Thailand in the late 1960s, and has continued since then to combine both traditional and modern techniques in his work. He is a recipient of the Artist of the Year gold medal, awarded by the Siam ArchitectsÂ’ Association.
