Susan STERN is a tenured lecturer at the Institute for English and American Studies at Frankfurt University. Her field of study is contemporary German and studies, with a focus on the relations between Germany and the United States in such areas as cross-cultural communication, the effects of globalization on German business culture, and comparative management practices. Currently on leave from her position at the Goethe University, she devotes her time to advising the public and private sectors on both sides of the Atlantic on cross-cultural issues and socio-political aspects of contemporary Germany. Her current clients include agencies of the German government, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Siemens, Motorola, BMW, Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and Fuqua Business School. Professor Stern lectures frequently at universities in the United States and elsewhere, including Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown, the University of Massachusetts-Boston, the University of Vancouver and the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Professor Stern received a B.A., an M.A., and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
