Sunder Ramaswamy

President, Monterey Institute of International Studies

Sunder Ramaswamy is president of the Monterey Institute of International Studies and also professor of economics at the Institute. He was formerly the Frederick C. Dirks professor of economics in the Department of Economics of Middlebury College, as well as the dean for faculty development and research. He has also served as the director of the Madras School of Economics in Chennai, India. Dr. Ramaswamy also worked with The World Bank on projects fostering economic reforms in India. He received his Ph.D. and an M.S. in economics from Purdue University, Indiana, and an M.A. in economics from the Delhi School of Economics. He is a Salzburg Global Seminar fellow of Session 308, Agriculture: Food, Environment, and Rural Development, in 1993, and the Freeman Foundation Symposium in 1998.
