Stephen Reese

Professor, University of Texas, USA

Stephen D. Reese has been on the University of Texas at Austin faculty since 1982, where he is now the Jesse H. Jones Professor of Journalism & Media. His research focuses on press performance, including the sociology of news, media framing of public issues, and the globalization of journalism. A fellow of the International Communication Association, his most recent book is The crisis of the institutional press (2021, Polity). He received his B.A. at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, from which he received the Harold L. Nelson Award in 2015 for distinguished contribution to research and education in journalism and mass communication.
