Vicky Opia is the executive director of Peace Hospice Adjumani. She also coordinates palliative care programs in the Adjumani District of Northern Uganda. Vicky joined Peace Hospice Adjumani in 2014. She is interested in acquiring and sharing knowledge, also exploring other methods of handling long standing health related problems at the end of life. She further wishes to collaborate and network locally and globally with other organizations which focus on vulnerable persons such as refugees and terminally ill persons. Vicky developed her passion for palliative care after visiting an ailing patient (diagnosed with Retinoblastoma and too far away from the next hospital to get proper care). Vicky earned a B.A. in palliative care from Makerere University in Kampala and has undertaken a nurse leadership course at the University of Edinburgh (affiliated with Makerere University).
