Simon Evenett

Professor of International Trade and Economic Development, University of St Gallen, St. Gallen

Simon J. Evenett is professor of international trade and economic development at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and co-director of the CEPR Program in International Trade and Regional Economics, the most established group of international trade economists in Europe. Professor Evenett taught previously at Oxford and Rutgers University, has been a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, and served twice as a World Bank official. In the early stage of his career he held a number of fellowships at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. With Alejandro Jara he edited Building on Bali: A Work Programme for the WTO, that was published in December 2013. Professor Evenett has authored or co-authored over 150 publications and has served on a number of commissions relating to international trade. He obtained a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University. He served on the faculty of Salzburg Global Session 491, The Future of the Multilateral Trading System and the World Trade Organization, in 2012.
