Alphonse Smith is the executive director of the Arts Council New Orleans. Since joining the Arts Council, Alphonse has worked with groups to support cultural exchanges, promote creative economy through education, and create safe spaces for artistic expression among emerging artists. Alphonse received degrees from Xavier University of Louisiana and the Southern University Law Center, and is an active member of the New Orleans arts and culture community. Recent affiliations include The Salzburg Global Seminar, The Aspen Institute Executive Leadership Seminar, The Campaign for Equity New Orleans, The City of New Orleans Design Advisory Committee, Pass It On New Orleans, and the Dominican Republic Missions Team for Celebrate Church.
