Sam Karp

Chief Information Officer, California Health Care Foundation, Oakland, California

SAM KARP is chief information officer of the California Health Care Foundation, a

non-profit philanthropy that focuses on critical issues confronting a changing health

care marketplace. Prior to joining the Foundation, Mr. Karp was the executive officer

of HandsNet, a national, technology intermediary that assists non-profit organizations

in planning their use of new information technologies. He served as coordinator for

the USA for Africa Foundation’s Hands Across America public demonstration and

has been active in numerous non-profit organizations, grassroots coalitions, state and

national campaigns. Mr. Karp received a B.A. in political science from Washington

and Jefferson College, Washington, Pennsylvania. He previously served as a faculty

member at Salzburg Seminar Session 341, Non-Governmental Organizations: Towards

Effective International Partnerships, 1996.
